How to make Slack emoji GIF? ›

The Giphy app lets you search a library of animated GIFs and send them in Slack. Once Giphy is installed to your workspace, any member can post GIFs in conversations from the shortcuts menu.

Giphy lets you search from the world's largest library of animated GIFs, making it easy to find and share them on the web. This integration will enable the /giphy slash command for your team. Example: typing "/giphy cats" will display a cat GIF in your channel.

From the left sidebar, select Settings, then click Organization Settings. Next to Attach a GIF, click Edit. Check or uncheck the box next to Enable the GIF picker, then click Save.

Send a GIF

From a conversation, click the slash icon next to the message field. Search for Find and share a GIF, then press Enter to select it. Type a word or phrase in the text field, then click Search. Click Shuffle to view more options, then select Share to post your GIF.

Tap your profile picture at the top of your screen. Tap Preferences. Tap the toggle next to Allow animated images & emoji on or off.

Slack recommends 128x128px square images. The app will automatically resize your image if it doesn't match the recommended dimensions. Emojis can only be added from Slack's desktop and web apps.

To find the content you're looking for, go to the search bar at the top of the GIPHY homepage and enter your term or set of terms you want to find. If you don't see what you're looking for, add some more specific terms to the end of your search.

Get the GIPHY App! Tap on the Text Message button. Your GIF will automatically appear in the Message app on your iPhone or Android. Hit send and watch your GIF autoplay in the text thread!

Right-click on the GIF you want to save and select “Save Image As…” from the dropdown menu. Choose the location and folder where you want to save your GIF on your computer. Rename the file and click “Save” to download the image to your Mac or PC.

How do I add a GIF emoji to Slack? ›

Images can be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format. From your desktop, click the smiley face icon in the message field to open the emoji menu. Click Add Emoji. Click Upload Image and select a file.

/giphy #caption "quote" <insert text> - Captions a GIF based on your search term with the specific quote you include in the command. /giphy #1 <insert text> - Returns the top GIF result for that search term. /giphy #8ball <insert a question> - GIPHY will return a GIF answering your question.
