Roasted Broccoli Recipe: Ingredients

This oven roasted broccoli is made with only 6 ingredients (including salt and pepper)!

  • Broccoli Florets. Trim fresh broccoli and use the tops (called florets) in this recipe. You can also use frozen broccoli florets with great results!
  • Olive Oil.use a high-quality olive oil for the best flavor. You can also use infused olive oils (like this garlic olive oil) to add an extra depth of flavor! Really any neutral oil works like avocado oil, canola oil, etc.
  • Garlic Powder.I use powdered garlic here because it coats the broccoli and gives it a crispy texture. I don’t recommend making substituions!
  • Sea Salt.Garlic salt can be used in place of sea salt for even more garlic flavor.
  • Paprika. My favorite is smoked paprika, but any variety works well!
  • Black pepper.Use freshly ground black pepper for the best flavor!

How to make Roasted Broccoli

This oven-roasted broccoli recipe is very easy to make, but as always, I will walk through the steps showing you how to roast broccoli to ensure your broccoli-roasting success!

Make Spice Mixture

The first step in this baked broccoli recipe is to make the spice mixture. Combining the spices beforehand will make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the broccoli florets! Set it aside to use later.

Combine broccoli & olive oil

Next, combine the broccoli and olive oil. Be sure to stir so the olive oil is evenly distributed and all the broccoli pieces are evenly coated.

How to roast frozen broccoli:

You can use both fresh or frozen broccoli. For frozen broccoli I recommend following the recipe as written, you may just need to stir the broccoli one extra time during roasting, and broil at the end to achieve the best texture!

Add spice mixture

Once the broccoli is evenly coated with olive oil, sprinkle the spice mixture over the broccoli. Stir until all the broccoli pieces are evenly coated! This might be a bit more challenging with frozen broccoli, so I recommend adding it in 3 separate additions with stirring in between.

Make sure to stir gently, especially if using frozen broccoli, to prevent breaking the broccoli apart!

Roast Broccoli

Roast the broccoli at 450 degrees F for about 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Please be aware that all ovens bake differently, so make sure to check the broccoli at around 7 minutes! Also, the size you cut the florets into will effect the baking time (smaller florets = shorter bake time, larger florets = longer bake time). So keep that in mind!

Broil (if necessary)

Towards the end of baking if the broccoli isn’t crisping up as you’d like it to, turn the oven to broil and bake for 1-2 minutes. I usually only need to do this occasionally when using frozen broccoli!
