A natural speedster with the power to wield and bend electricity, Volt is a highly versatile Warframe that uses his electric abilities to damage, provide cover, and complement the ranged and melee combat of his cell. The varied nature of his abilities makes him highly versatile in combat, and since they’re electricity-based he’s effective against the Corpus enemies.

His Prime version also displays better higher armor and energy capacity, as well as an additional polarity. However, right now Volt Prime is unobtainable until the Vault brings him back, so you may need to roam around the Trade Chat in case you want him.

How to craft Volt?

Volt is one of the three starter Warframes, alongside Excalibur and Mag, obtainable during the quest “Awakening”. Alternatively, Volt's blueprints can be researched from the Tenno Lab in the dojo and it can also be bought from Teshin for 60,000 Reputation once players have achieved the Typhoon rank in the Conclave.

Volt is a really versatile warframe that can take many roles in direct combat by boosting his Attack Speed and the tankiness of the Electric Shields, or dedicate entirely to more explorative missions like Capture or Sabotage focusing entirely on Sprinting Speed, while also boosting his teammates. His abilities will depend mostly on Strength and Duration so you will need to focus on that, but depending on the context a bit of extra Health will be also welcomed.

Rhino Abilities

Passive
Traveling along the ground between Volt's attacks will build up static energy, adding bonus Electricity damage toward Volt's next weapon attack or ability cast. For every meter traveled, 5 points of Electricity damage are added, up to a maximum of 1000 bonus damage that is not affected by Ability Strength.

Shock
Launches a shocking projectile. It stuns and deals high damage to a single target and chains damage to nearby enemies.
Strength: 75 / 100 / 125 / 200 Electricity damage
Range: 7 / 10 / 12 / 15 meters of chain link range
Misc:
Infinite cast range
2 / 3 / 4 / 5 chain links
100 % Electricity status chance

Speed
Gain a brief boost of movement speed which affects all allies in range.
Strength:
10% / 15% / 25% / 50% Speed buff
7.5% / 12.5% / 15% / 17.5% Reload Speed buff
Duration: 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 seconds
Range: 15 / 20 / 22 / 25 meters

Electric Shield
Volt deploys an obstacle of energy, providing cover in any situation.
Meters per Energy Drained: 4 meters
Duration:10 / 15 / 20 / 25 seconds
Misc:
50% Damage bonus
200% Critical Damage bonus
6 Shields limit

Discharge
Paralyze nearby hostiles with a damaging electric charge, this also shocks approaching enemies.
Strength: 500 / 750 / 1000 / 1200 Electricity damage per second
Duration: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 seconds of stun duration
Range: 12 / 15 / 18 / 20 meters of electric pulse range
4 / 4 / 6 / 8 meters of electric arc radius
Misc: 3 / 3 / 4 / 4 seconds of electric pulse duration
4.5 seconds of damage delay

Recommended Weapons

Since Volt is an extremely fast Warframe, you want weapons that accompany that approach since the reload times and attack speed will be ridiculous under the Speed effects. Ignis should cover more than fine as the main weapon with Akbolto as support, and Ninkondi gets unreal once you’re speeding up, so that’s the perfect choice for melee. Needless to say, if you can get your hands into their Prime versions (Wraith in the case of Ignis), the better.

Mods List
Aura Mod: Sprint Boost
Exilus Mod: Power Drift
Loadout:

  • Constitution
  • Transient Fortitude
  • Intensify
  • Narrow Minded
  • Blind Rage
  • Primed Continuity
  • Augur Secrets
  • Augur Message

This build is by far the most fun for Volt, and the easiest to understand. You need to buff Sprint Speed, Strength, and Duration, in that specific order, or as balanced as you see fit, as the picture above shows. Ideally, being over 250% Duration and 300% Strength should be good enough, and remember that Speed calculates a bonus over the total Sprint Speed, so the more the merrier. If you feel you want more of that, changing the Augur mods for Sprint Drift and Rush should do the work.

Mods List
Aura Mod: Corrosive Projection
Exilus Mod: Coaction Drift
Loadout:

  • Constitution
  • Fleeting Expertise
  • Narrow Minded
  • Natural Talent
  • Speed Drift
  • Vitality
  • Streamline
  • Continuity

When hunting Eidolons outside Cetus, Volt has a prominent role in defending other Tenno by spamming his Shields. This build goes around that idea, with improved casting time using mods like Natural Talent and Speed Drift, and great Duration and Strength with the rest of the mods, so the Shields hold as much as they can when things get heated. Vitality should also give Volt a good amount of sustain too.
